After Arrival at Guwahati Airport, we shall take you to the beautiful Chandubi lake. Situated at the foothills of Garo hills, it is one of the beautiful natural lakes in Assam. Chandubi Lake was formed in 1897 during the devastating earthquake in Assam. According to the locals, Chandubi was a hilly area with five mountains before 1897. The five mountains had sunken into the ground during the earthquake and form the lake. The name Chandubi is derived from two words where Chand means five and Dubi means sinking in Khasi language. Go for an evening boat ride and enjoy the beauty of Chandubi lake. Overnight stay in a lakeside bamboo cottage.
In the morning we shall travel to Kaziranga national park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National Park is home to the unique One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros apart from several other wild animals. A jeep or elephant safari through the lush green forest and an overnight stay in one of the many resorts there will bring you a little closer to nature and wildlife.
After reaching Kaziranga, go for an afternoon Jeep Safari. It will be 2 hours safari into the jungle. Check in to a resort and take a rest for some time. Evening enjoy traditional dance and music at Orchid park near Kaziranga national park. Overnight stay in Kaziranga.
Early morning go for an elephant safari into the jungles of Kaziranga National park. Elephant Safari timings are from 5-7 AM. After that come back to the hotel, have breakfast. We shall start for Majuli which is approximately 150KM from Kohora by 11 AM.
Majuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River, Assam and in 2016 it became the first island to be made a district in India. You can’t but visit a place so explicitly rich with age-old culture and splendid tradition that dates back to several hundred years. Apart from the geographic significance that Majuli holds as being the largest riverine island in the world, this place is also significant for its scenic beauty. The island has been the hub of Assamese neo-Vaishnavite culture, initiated around the 15th century by the revered Assamese saint Srimanta Sankardeva and his disciple Madhavdeva. Many Satras or monasteries constructed by the saint still survive and represent the colourful Assamese culture. Overnight stay in Majuli.
Morning explore and visit years old Satras and Vaishnavite culture. Also explore traditional arts and crafts, mask making, pottery making. We shall take you to the Mishing tribe village, where you will explore the colourful culture and taste the Mishing authentic lunch at bamboo houses. Overnight stay in Majuli.
Morning, after breakfast we shall travel to Nameri National Park which is about 220KM from Majuli. Located in the foothills of the magical Eastern Himalayas, Nameri National Park has made a name for itself as one of the top tourist hotspots of Assam. Apart from the diverse wildlife, Nameri is also a known name among adventure seekers as it offers a host of outdoor activities ranging from river rafting, trekking, and kayaking. We shall reach Nameri by afternoon. Check-in to an Eco Camp and take a rest. Relax and enjoy the bonfire in the evening amidst a calm and jungle environment.
Today we shall go river rafting and a small trek in the jungle. One of the best places for Rafting in Northeast India. This one-day activity would take around 3 hours. This adrenaline-charged trip downstream takes you through the rapids and lasts for almost one and a half hours. The Nameri water rafting adventure may sound like it's dangerous, but is very safe for everyone, even for non-swimmers.
After breakfast, we shall start towards Panimur waterfall, which is known as the Niagara of Assam. Situated about 200 km away from Nameri, the Kopili River is obstructed by stones, but yet it turns into a gushing milky white waterfall which is called Panimur and is indeed an ethereal beauty. The panoramic view of the scenery attracts a number of nature lovers and photographers into this place. There is no proper accommodation nearby. So, After visiting this beautiful waterfall we shall go to Hojai for an overnight stay.
Today is the last day of the trip. We shall plan to start the journey as per flight timings. It will take around 4-4.30 hours to reach the airport.
